Personal Project – Through Your Eyes Inspiration Project

Through Your Eyes Inspiration Project

“You can’t wait for inspiration. You have to go after it with a club.” — Jack London

I am part of a group of women photographers from around the globe. We are banded together to inspire, help each other, promote growth and share our experiences in a positive environment.

We recently undertook a project where we used an image as inspiration, to create our own piece of art. I helped formulate this idea for the group, and it was fantastic to be able to choose an image I thought we could all appreciate. We posted this blurb to our social media pages to explain to everyone what it was we were doing.

“Through Your Eyes is a group of women photographers, from around the Globe, who are all at different stages of the photographic journey. What we all have in common is a desire to bring about “change” to our industry. To help build each other up, to educate, support and enjoy being photographers, together. We have many discussions and topics that we cover, and one of them recently was Inspiration. So Jo from JG Images in Bathurst came up with the idea for Through Your Eyes Inspiration project (that’s me!). We all have one base image that Jo found which belongs to the most incredibly talented Ira Zhuyka Dzhul a Ukraine photographer. We all gained inspiration from her image, and have all over the last few months created our own image. Tonight, especially for Harmony Day, each of us who was able to participate in the project will share on our pages the image that we have created. We will also share a link with you where you will be able to have a look at each of our images up on Flickr and for those of you that don’t have a Flickr account, we’ll each put up a story board which will show you all of our images. Everyone see’s images we absolutely love and think to ourselves “Ohhh I want to do that”…..that’s inspiration, when we take that inspiration and create our very own image with our very own thoughts and ideas added to that inspiration….well, that’s creating Art!” (Written by Tanya from Beyond the Spectrum Photography)

This was my piece that I created as inspired by the image above:

This is the work of all the photographers who participated in this round. I find it amazing that with one image, we were all able to create such different pieces of art, using a wide variety of photographic techniques. We all had our own vision for our creation.

We didn’t talk or share our ideas throughout the process, and this is the result. A collection of images involving a common theme, yet no photo is common.

I was truly pleased to be part of such a great movement and am very much looking forward to the next one.

I’ll be sharing the rest of the images from the session I did to get my art piece in the future – I can’t wait to share them – I know my two models are desperate to see them!

Let me know what you thought of this project, and my image below!

I’m Jo! I'm the friend with the camera in my hand, always. I'm the person who makes her husband pull over multiple times on a car trip, because I have to take a photograph right.this.second. I’ve lost count of how many cameras I have had over the years and I’ll always want the newer one that just came out

What a positive and creative idea. I really enjoyed seeing all the different ideas and images that all the photographers came up with. I always enjoy your work Jo and am so glad you are connected with others in your field 🙂

Thank you Beck! It has been a great experience that is for sure! I’m opting out of the next project as I’ve got a lot on, but I’m looking forward to future things!
