Project 52

A photography project for 2015…

This year I decided to participate in a Project 52 with a group of talented photographers that I know through NAPCP (National Association of Professional Children’s Photographers). We decided to challenge ourselves this year to click more for our own personal enjoyment and to take the images that warm our hearts. We all collaborated on the themes for each week, they are varied and wonderful. Some will test our creative skills and some are just for fun.

Now, I’ll be honest. I tried this once before, and not long into the project I fell pregnant with my twins and promptly stopped taking the photographs. I fell off the wagon in a huge way – so this year I am determined to succeed. After doing two 365 projects (one on camera and one via Instragram on my iphone) in past years, I feel that this will be right up my alley.

I’d love for you to join me in my journey, which will give you a bit of a peek into my photography outside portraits.

Week 1/52 – Gratitude

Google defines gratitiude as “the quality of being thankful; readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness.”

This image is something I often forget to capture, the little moments of the little people. I am grateful that they can play with imaginative souls together and by themselves on a daily basis. They play well and they love life. My gratitude is their happiness.

Week 2/52 – Bokeh

I ran short this week, short of time – so I decided to cheat and use an image from a client. I got this shot when I was photographing this little one as part of portrait photographs with her brother. We did the shoot in Grandma’s garden which was a pretty amazing and tranquil place, with beautiful huge mirrors in it – inspirational in terms of gardening, but it also helped create the most amazing light and bokeh – so I felt it was natural to include this shot.

Week 3/52 – Music

These bells are super popular at our house. I’d like to think it’s the bright colours, but I am pretty sure it is the astronomical noises they can make with two kids playing them. They’re loud, they’ve got an amazing selection of tones and the kids love them.

Week 4/52 – Cake

I stretched the meaning a bit this week and did panCAKEs. Mini ones. Perfect for lunchbox fillers and morning tea. One pancake batch makes so many, and there they were, just staring at me…so I took the chance to snap them.

That wraps up January, and with February half over, I’ll have more to share soon.

If you’d like to check out some other photographers that I am doing this challenge with, you can find them here:

Kimberly Tank Photography, Shutterbean Photography, Wojo Image, Close Your Eyes Photography, Marena Beck Photography, Songbird Photography, Life Unstill, Defining Moments, Gina Holt Photography, MZ Photo, Floyd Family Photography

There is so much talent in those photographers, I am proud to be included with them this year.

I’m Jo! I'm the friend with the camera in my hand, always. I'm the person who makes her husband pull over multiple times on a car trip, because I have to take a photograph right.this.second. I’ve lost count of how many cameras I have had over the years and I’ll always want the newer one that just came out

Thanks Jess! I hope that it brings me a year of fun memories of our life. I like the challenge of the topics, even though it makes it much harder!
